DISABILITY IS NOT INABILTY

DISABILITY IS NOT INABILTY

The TOUR D EAC, is an annual bicycle tour organized by Campfire Logs Guild to sensitize East African citizens about the benefits of the East African Community. It started on 1st August 2017 in a Ugandan capital Kampala.
It went through all the East African member states ie from Uganda through Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi. Then from Bujumbura the capital of Burundi, back to Uganda.

This year’s edition was well represented by 27 participants from all partner states that form the East African Community bloc. The whole journey lasted for 45 days covering a total distance of approximately 5000KM.

There were several stages along the route which added to the excitement as riders had an opportunity to greet and share with the locals.
Some partners and locals joined the team and cycled for certain distance of their choice which made journey so colorful and enjoyable. This also promoted the spirit of unity and brotherhood.

Among the cyclists, there was a one unique member by the names of Joseph Tebandeke who defied all odds. He proved to everyone that “disability is not inability”.  Despite being a handicap person, he participated fully right from day one up to the final day without any problem whatsoever.

Joseph is a team player with good sense of humor. You cannot talk or report anything about this year’s Tour D EAC edition without mentioning his name. Joseph is a very hardworking, courageous and a True living HERO of our times.
His determination and enthusiasm has greatly inspired so many along the journey irrespective of their nationality, religion, race or status they may belong. Joseph's charisma has left everyone scratching their heads. He has set the bar very high and this has prompted the organizers to challenge everyone to emulate his legacy.
